Last month, the owners of Montecristo beach on Nicaragua's Central Pacific coast invited me to tour their 1,000 acre oceanfront property. The project is located only 1 hour from Managua and the international airport; far closer than most of the coastal developments in Nicaragua.
I was in for a pleasant surprise
I was expecting the flat terrain and straight coastline prevalent to this area of Nicaragua's coastline. Instead I found jagged shores, dramatic cliffs reaching far out to sea, blow holes, tidal pools, empty beaches, crashing surf... and hidden coves.
This is a coastline reminiscent of Big Sur in California.
From the helicopter we were able to see just how unique this area is. The topography is easily as spectacular as the coastline attracting thousands of real estate investors to San Juan del Sur and the Southern Pacific coast of Nicaragua - only much, much closer to Managua. There is also an exclusive, upscale feel here - a sense of space and privacy
