Our clients recognize good value when they see it

March 27th, 2009 by Coldwell Banker Nicaragua

nicaragua-property-casita-siteWe’ve just completed our latest Your Future Now real estate tour.

On Your Future Now we round up the best deals and showcase the finest developments in an intensive, full-throttle 3-day tour across the country.

Just before the tour, a developer on Nicaragua’s central coast introduced a new release of beach casitas with “romantic” floor-plans, splash pools and an extreme attention to detail in the finishing.

It’s the price that got us excited: these casitas start at $139,000, turnkey.

Remember, the casitas are steps away from a championship golf course, equestrian center and all the amenities you would expect in a luxury oceanside resort community.

Three casitas sold in just two days

But there was more to it. As part of the launch the developer offered the first 4 people to purchase a casita a full furniture and soft goods package (even the hammock!) in the price. We just hand over the key for a fully turnkey experience.

Well, 3 casitas have already sold, two of them on Your Future Now. So this offer now only applies to one more purchase. Contact us for more information

With change comes opportunity

Our goal in this market is to uncover the best deals in the best locations, backed up by quality master-plans. We’re finding that it’s the tough times that create unique opportunity for those who innovate and broaden their horizons. And our clients are finding opportunities here in Nicaragua for less-expensive, less-stressful living.

We’d love to show you these casitas, and other good value offerings here in Nicaragua.

There’s no more efficient way to get a handle on the property market than by joining our Your Future Now tours. The next tour runs 1-3 May 2009. Contact us for the details.

Watch this video to see sustainable development at work in Nicaragua

March 19th, 2009 by Coldwell Banker Nicaragua

Finally, a logical approach to building in rapidly developing nations like Nicaragua. The project featured in the video below employs local community members and educates them in the skills of sustainable building by utilizing readily available byproducts, such as tires and plastic bottles, in conjunction with other local materials.

The aim is to empower local community members and create skills that will foster a healthy independence from economic fluctuations. At the same time the project serves as a case study for future developers – showing that the cleanest water comes from the sky and the most reliable energy source is independent.

A practical demonstration that aside from the obvious securities of living ‘off grid,’ the best development, and consequently the best long term investment, is one that invests in the local people and community.

Surfers in Nicaragua are spoiled for choice

March 12th, 2009 by Coldwell Banker Nicaragua

Shall we surf Yankee or Madera, Colorado or Panga Drops?”

Surfers in Nicaragua are spoiled. You’ll find consistent lefts, barreling rights, peeling point breaks and hollow A-frame peaks to suit all levels of surfer.

What’s more, the waves are uncrowded and the water is warm – what more could a surfer want?

Part of what makes surfing so special is the wind which blows offshore at least 300 days a year.

Surfing in Nicaragua with a tailored surf package

We’ve put together surf packages run by expert surfers who know the best breaks in Nicaragua. We can also combine a surf trip with other activities, such as sailing, canopy tours, yoga and community outreach.

Just tell us your interests, and we’ll design a tailored Surf Nicaragua package just for you.

Nicaragua recommended reading list

March 7th, 2009 by Coldwell Banker Nicaragua

If you’re dreaming of hot sun, beautiful beaches, empty surf, stunning resorts and that tingle of adventure that comes with a new destination, then come and experience Nicaragua with us. We’ll put together a Nicaragua vacation package tailored just for you. And for some reading to get you in the mood, check out our recommended reading list below:

The latest edition of Moon Nicaragua (Moon Handbooks) was released Fall, 2008. If you are looking for insider knowledge about the country then this is the book to get. This third edition has been fully updated and is packed full of rich insight and well-researched information.

The same author, Joshua Berman, has also written a guide to living in the country called Moon Living Abroad in Nicaragua. This guide is a must-have for anyone considering moving to Nicaragua full time (or even for a few months of the year). The book is smart, organized, and straightforward. It provides a step by step guide to setting up your daily life in the country.

We’re pleased to see that Lonely Planet Nicaragua will soon be on the bookshelves as we’ve been waiting some time for a dedicated Lonely Planet guide to the country. Judging by the quality of books that Lonely Planet produces, you’re probably safe to pre-order the title at Amazon. It will be delivered when it arrives. The current Lonely Planet book for Nicaragua, although combined with coverage of El Salvador, is still very popular.

The Jaguar Smile: A Nicaraguan Journey is a personal narrative by Salman Rushdie, written when he visited Nicaragua in 1986 . Times have moved on, some of the characters have changed but many of his arguments still ring loud and clear. Exactly what you would expect the 1980 Booker Prize winning author of Midnight’s Children: A Novel

No reading list for Nicaragua would be complete without The Country Under My Skin: A Memoir of Love and War. The story follows Belli from her upper class roots to the underground Sandinista movement. Belli is is author of the much acclaimed novel The Inhabited Woman.

February 23rd, 2009 by Coldwell Banker Nicaragua

Own a fully furnished, fully landscaped home with inspired architectural design for a single all-inclusive price. A truly turnkey experience where everything is taken care of.

This world class resort has been able to maintain a historical occupancy rate of between 70-80% for the past 4 years. Of all the development communities in San Juan del Sur, this community is the farthest along and has set the bar for others up and coming. Each unit is individually owned while professionally managed and maintained by the hotel.

The profits from the luxury resort are used to fund the A. Jean Brugger Charitable Foundation. This is best practice social responsibility – where a social and financial mission are so inter-twined to be inseparable. Where else can you sip a Margarita with a view like the one above of the pool at Bistro la Canoa knowing that you are helping make Nicaragua a better place?

February 18th, 2009 by Coldwell Banker Nicaragua

Here’s a video taster of the music festival held earlier this month at Casa Llanta, an eco-community located a little south of San Juan del Sur in Nicaragua. The event was such a success that it will now take place on an annual basis.

What’s more, Earthships are now firmly on the green real estate map in Nicaragua.

Congratulations to Brooke Rundle, Tim Kelly, Matty Powell, Justin Lyon and Samuel Chally for pulling the festival together. The video is by David Kalani and there’s more to come. Enjoy it below and for anyone interested in Earthships, you can follow an account of the building process and check out our property information.

Mulling over whether Nicaragua is right for you?

February 14th, 2009 by Coldwell Banker Nicaragua

nicaragua-vacations1.jpgAre you curious about Nicaragua? Maybe you’ve heard some stories about the empty surf breaks, the great fishing, the eco-adventures or historic colonial towns?

Life is good for many people living abroad. Often mentioned are things like a lower cost of living, more affordable real estate, the experience of a new culture, cheaper healthcare and warmer weather.

And, for many, moving abroad is an opportunity for reinvention and a way to escape from the drudgery of 9-5 living.

Still, living overseas is not for everyone. The best way to determine whether Nicaragua is right for you is to come and experience it first hand.

We’ve got the contacts, we know the destinations, we’ve toured every inch of the country and we’re delighted to bring you the best the country has to offer. Contact us for a Nicaragua vacation package just for you.
