After two and a half years as a Peace Corp volunteer in Nicaragua, Ben Patterson was not ready to leave this exotic paradise that had become home. While in the Peace Corp he taught high school students how to start and run small businesses. He also taught English to interested students and volunteered at a non profit for disadvantaged youth.
Through his work and travel all over the country, he learned to respect and admire its people, culture, history and beauty. Ben has traveled extensively in Central and South America and has also lived in London and spent time in Europe, but is particularly fond of the friendly people and lifestyle in Nicaragua.
Ben has chosen to work at Coldwell Banker because of its socially responsible approach and his business background. Because he is fluent in Spanish, he will be able to communicate effectively with all parties involved in a transaction.
He is a native of Charlotte, NC and graduated cum laude with a business degree from North Carolina State University. Ben continues to give back to Nicaragua by assisting one his former students, Gustavo, to continue his English lessons in Managua. Also, Ben is collaborating with a nonprofit in San Juan del Sur, Community Refund to offer a small business course to local entrepreneurs.
Ben encourages visitors to Nicaragua because he knows they will find a beautiful and peaceful country that has moved past the difficulties of the 1980’s. Nicaragua has had a democratic government since 1990 and the government actively promotes investment by foreigners. There are many excellent real estate opportunities in the country and Ben would love to share his knowledge of the properties and the process for investing in this beautiful paradise.
